Decent product but significant limitations in rural areas. I live in a village where there aren't many apple devices around, so position updates are very sporadic — sometimes 30-40 minutes between each ping. In the city it works fine, but for anyone living in the countryside, that's a real limitation of the find my system (not the product itself). Battery lasts about 27 hours. Solid construction, waterproof confirmed after testing in rain.
Dead simple. Literally held it next to my iphone 17, tapped add in find my, done in 15 seconds. No separate app needed, no account creation, no subscription fees. This is the killer feature — it piggybacks on apple's entire find my network for free.
Works well overall. I was skeptical about a $17 gps tracker actually connecting to apple find my, but it genuinely does. Location updates every few minutes when the pet is near other apple devices — in my city that means pretty frequent updates. In more remote areas, the updates are slower, which is expected since it relies on the find my network. The device itself is well-built, survived a week of my husky rolling in mud and snow.
In urban/suburban areas with lots of apple devices around, location is within 10-20m. My dog's position updates every 3-5 minutes on average. In my friend's rural property, updates dropped to every 15-30 min. Still usable but less precise. Not the device's fault — it's how find my network works.
Survived rain, mud, my dog rolling in dirt, and one accidental drop into a puddle. Water resistance is legit. The black plastic shell looks a bit plain but is tough. The collar clip is secure but i added a small zip-tie as backup after reading another review about it coming loose.
Generally a good product. Find my app integration is simple and i was able to start using it right away. It's slightly large for my cat (4kg), but she doesn't seem to mind it on her collar. The waterproof function worked fine even when i accidentally dropped it in a wash basin. My reason for 4 stars: location updates become slow in areas where there aren't many apple devices nearby, and actual battery life is about 26-28 hours versus the stated 30 hours.
